January 29 Matt at 12 Bar Club Central London
Matt will be appearing at the 12 Bar Club on Denmark Street in Central London January 29. Matt will be accompanied by Simon Edwards (who has played with Julian Lennon and Billy Bragg among others) on bass and long time friend Chuck Sabo (Elton John, Tina Turner, etc) on drums.

Congrats to Laura Mvula on BRIT Awards Nomination!
Matt Backer was honored this past year to play on Laura Mvula's new record, Sing to the Moon. And now we hear Laura's been nominated for two BRIT Awards. The BRIT Awards are the British Phonographic Industry's annual pop music awards, and the British equivalent of the American Grammy Awards. Laura has been nominated British Female Solo Artist and is a Critic's Choice Nominee. The awards ceremony will be held Wednesday January 20 at the 02 Arena in London.

Matt Backer Wins Independent Music Network Favourite International Artist Award!
We received word late yesterday that Matt Backer won The Independent Music Network's Award for Favourite International Artist.
In true international form, Matt accepted news of the award via his mobile phone on an airplane....on his way to a show!

Premier of Dick Carruther's Julian Lennon Documentary
Looking forward to the premier of Dick Carruthers' documentary on Julian Lennon "Through The Picture Window" this evening. Dick Carruthers has worked with The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, The Who and Led Zepplin. Should be an excellent evening!
