What do Ry Cooder, David Bowie and Matt Backer have in common? A 1956 Supro Dual Tone of course....

Matt's just acquired a 1956 Supro Dual Tone. If it looks familiar, it's the same guitar played by David Bowie and Ry Cooder.
The guitar has a Wood body (they coated the Belmont in plastic starting 1960, and switched to
Res-o-glas when the company became Valco in 1962), original National
pickups whose design presumably influenced Seth Lover when he brought
out the Humbucker the following year.

Matt's got it set up for slide....he's still getting the hang of playing it.

Isn't she a beauty?
